Scarlett O'Hara Did It. You should too!
In the sequel to Gone with the Wind, Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley, when Scarlett O'Hara heard that tough times were coming, she'd convert all her paper money into gold bars. She evolved into
quite the shrewd business woman.
I know that Scarlett is a fictional character but many people to this day with financial savvy are investing in real wealth these days instead of paper money.
Diamonds, silver and gold are what some of our richest citizens are investing in. I remember reading a story about people in the depression carrying around wheel barrows full of money and it was useless.
Stashing your bills underneath your mattress in a depression won't help you a bit and the economy could change before it comes out of that depression and your life savings could be rendered worthless.
Real money like gold and silver hold value far better than any paper money or copper coin and continue to be more and more valuable as time goes on.
It used to be that a dollar bill was a reserved note and carried around in the pocket of its' holder in lieu of a heavy gold or silver bar. For every printed piece of money there was a piece of precious metal in its' place in a vault.
Today, this is not so.
Investors should be diversified as much as possible and up to 20% of your assets should be in something tangible such as gold, silver or platinum bullion coins.
The coin collector can not only spend their investment on something tangible but can elect to do so with collectibles such as various collectible coins
This protects your investment funds and also allows you a hobby that can increase even further the value of your precious portfolio.
We live in a world of uncertainty and precious metals are certainly one of the few sustainable assets we can count on.
