On my son's 7th birthday, we had over 20 kids come to his party. I was truly dreading the gifts as his room was already filled with an assortment of toys he rarely played with but refused to part with. But 7 is an age where everyone is having birthday parties and it was his turn to do the big class party (in my opinion).
Little kids love to give gifts and see the excitement of their friends who get to open and see what they got. It was a hoot watching the gift opening. Gifts covered a myriad of toys, such as outdoor toys, craft supplies, action figures, and I was surprised that there was also a board game. The board games seem to be in stores but kids nowadays rarely play with them.
I know my older son typically used to play with it once but not put it away so the pieces would be strewn throughout his closet or toy box. I think that game companies should package girls games and boys games in a container with a snap-closed lid.
The board game my son got was fully assembled with very few pieces so hopefully he'll get to play with it more than once. That toymaker was probably a Mom who knew what it was like to have a game tossed in a closet and then never played with again because pieces were missing. This was probably the biggest little kid party he'd ever have. Yes, there are even more toys strewn about in his room but all too soon, I'm sure he will become like his older brother and become too old for toys so I'll try not to complain too much :)
