Rushes, Rushes

I'm getting rush order this week. Last week I had next to no work and here I am this week rushing stuff. It feels great. Two of the three rushes even had rush fees added to the invoice so it's wonderful to be busy and to be paid extra for my efforts.

It also helps to impress a client by showing them that you can help them out when they're in a pinch. Now back to the grind though, I have a long list of stuff to do today but am quite enjoying these little rushes that are fairly easy and pay great :)

Have a great day,
Dana

Alli

I posted this on my health blog but since it fits in with my soapbox theme as well as a health theme, I decided to post here as well. I'm a bit astounded at how people try to take the lazy way out even when it doesn't make sense...

Have you heard about the new drug Alli? It apparently blocks 1/4 of the fat that you eat by stopping your body from digesting it. The result of Alli is supposedly safe.

Alli doesn't impact your carbs, your proteins and doesn't stop you from absorbing vitamins and minerals but is said to be effective in taking a portion of the fat you eat and dumping it without it being absorbed.

I've read about many natural health products that block fat or carbs and don't know how Alli differs from those. It also boasts fewer side effects than many other drugs because of the way your body metabolizes it.

One thing to be aware of is the potential treatment effects of this drug by GlaxoSmithKline. You could have negative impact like oily flatulence that could result in leaks. This doesn't sound very pleasant. The whole reason I decided to blog about this drug was the mention of this in a monologue on the Tonight Show.

There are guidelines about how much fat you're allowed to eat in a day with this drug so taking Alli does not entitle you to eat extra fat. This is perplexing...
To me, if you are able to manage your fat intake in this way, it would stand to reason that you might be wiser to count your fat grams per day and minimize them instead of needing a drug to block them. Maybe that's just me. I think the alternative of needing to carry a change of clothing and running to the restroom in sheer terror if I feel a fart coming on would be a dealbreaker.

Do you feel the same?

The Series Finale of The Sopranos

Wow.
Talk about stunned.
At first I felt cheated and yelled, "I want my money back!" Money...the figurative term for the time I feel I've invested in the series over the years but then it hit me from a writer's perspective.

How brilliant for the writers to come up with that.
First, make you sit for 55 minutes wondering where they could possibly be going with this wishy washy stuff that doesn't seem to pack much of a punch for a very anticipated series finale and then for two or three minutes to send adrenalin pumping through your veins as you wonder who is he meeting with? Is he gonna flip? What's going to happen? What is the guy doing at the counter? Is he the one? Are the cops coming to arrest him? What's going to happen to the daughter outside? Is it going to be like the Godfather Part III where the daughter takes the bullet to truly punish the head of the mafia?

Then, all of a sudden, darkness. Where's the remote? What the bleep is wrong with the tv? Spouses stare at one another with glaring accusations to figure out who's responsible for the kerfuffle on the tv and then, softly making their entrance: The closing credits.

Brilliant.
You never know when you'll get popped if you're in the mob and as an outsider, you really are truly not supposed to know the secrets of the inside, right?

I think it was a great ending.
