You Know your Spouse is a True-Blue Anglar/Hunter When

Here are some hints:

Once you're mother to his children:
Mother's day weekend of every year is Pickerel
Season Opener. You may get brief appearances from him but if you're lucky enough to catch a few glimpses of him his mind will be elsewhere.
The fall of every year is spent hunting and the spring of every year is spent fishing. Winter begets icefishing and summer begets bass among other things I know little about.
I should be an expert with how much I'm regularly 'told' but for sanity purposes I try to glaze over early on in the conversation :)
The fall has salmon season so sprinkle that in and the spring has the bear hunt so pepper that in.
You will have foul smelling things in the vehicle. You will find rolls of toilet paper in your trunk and fishing hooks everywhere.
Hunter Orange is your spouses colour. Whether it looks good on him or not.... Decide it brings out the gold flecks in his eyes and be happy about it.
He spends his time thinking about buying a boat if he doesn't have one or a bigger boat if he does.

Don't be shocked when you open Styrofoam
containers in your refrigerator and they
contain worms and dirt.
Don't be shocked if he tries to pick a china pattern that closely resembles camouflage.
Don't be shocked if he is shocked by your lack of desire for a bearskin rug or animal heads as they are what he figures are shabby-chic for the family room.
He will not want to shop with you or go to the mall with you unless that mall houses a Bass Pro Shop.
He who refuses to spend more than ten minutes in the mall will have to be dragged kicking and screaming out of the Bass Pro Shops when the
store closes.
If he meets anyone else who is into fishing or hunting, he will spend hours talking to him.
You should try to intercept the conversation in the beginning before it gets to that point where you know you'll be there for at least
another hour. This can happen anywhere, the men's room, a gas station, especially the local fishing/hunting supply store.

You need to be firm and steadfast in your strictness on these issues or your house will look like a mountain man's cabin and your spouse will eventually resemble Jed Clampett.
Venison road kill is as good as shooting it yourself for eatin' purposes so long as the green flies and buzzards aren't surrounding it but if he does this, don't tell anyone he found it on the side of the road. He'll deny it to everyone but his close inner cirlce of hunting/fishing buddies. It's like a dark secret that everyone does but no one admits to.
This isn't a phase...he's a boy and has been this way all his life and now has a license to behave this way (a hunting/fishing license).
If you want to spend your life with him, accept these little quirks and make your 'no exception' points up front.

Mine are: I will not help or view in the
cleaning /skinning aspect of either hunted catches or fished catches. I don't want to see blood, carcasses or any of the sort hanging
around, lying around or otherwise.
In 11 years of marriage and 17 years together all together he's thankfully respected this.
He can simply dream of his own hunt camp where he can hang his conquests but none will hang in my home.
His supplies are to be kept out of the way. I don't want to trip over them.
His rule is one rule only; I'm not allowed to touch his fishing and hunting stuff.
Why?
It can't contract girl cooties otherwise
risk his getting skunked.

Fine with me!
I had to touch his fishing stuff once and once only.
This is how I knew I had really and truly done it...I'd married a die hard fisherman.
He told me that our marriage wasn't
really and truly consummated until I took a cast.
